Jacqueline (Leighton) Anderson, known to most as “Jackie” age 77, of Shelton, Washington, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025. She was born in Shelton, Washington where she spent nearly all her life. She was married for 60 years to her husband, Nels Anderson, and together they built a life full of grit, laughter, and stubborn love. In her younger years, Jackie tended bar and owned a tavern, where she made friends, told stories, and could hold her own with anyone across the counter. She played softball and golf, and later became a force on the shuffleboard table for many years. She loved planting flowers and caring for them, and she made what her family will always remember as the best berry pie in the world. As she got older, she enjoyed trips to play the slot machines as well as traveling to the beach and hanging out at “the lake”. Jackie was resilient and fiercely loyal to her family. She is survived by her husband, Nels Anderson; her daughters, Toni Morgan and Amey Anderson and her grandsons, Aaron Gallagher and Tyler Robinson. She was one of five children and is predeceased by most of her siblings. Her family will remember her strength, her stubborn streak, her sense of humor, and the way she showed love in ways that were entirely her own. She will be deeply missed and forever loved. The family will be holding a private gathering to honor Jackie’s life at a later date. In lieu of flowers her family would like those who wish to plant something in her memory, bake a berry pie, or raise a glass in her honor.
