Obituary of Janet Orozco
Please share a memory of Janet to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On February 20, 2026, Our mom, Janet J.Orozco passed away in the safety and security of her own home.
Janet was born in 1941 to Marion Freeland Kreigh McFarren and Everett A. Kreigh. She made it to 84 years old with much blood, sweat and tears, and she did it all her way. Everyone who knew her was amazed and maybe a little bit afraid of her.
She has 2 sisters, Karen West and Anna Purvis, 2 Brothers, Max Kreigh and Roy Kreigh. She also has multiple nieces and nephews.
Her childhood memories include using her father's weathervane for shooting practice, rounding up the animals, fighting with her sister, weekends with her dad and hiding in the trees. Putting on pretty girly dresses was really not her thing. She wanted to be strong and capable and would fight to wear and say what she wanted, then and til the end.
She has 6 children: Sandy Nagy, David Rich, Brenda Reynolds, Beth Rich, Mark Rich, and Pedro Orozco III. 3 Step-daughters: Tina Orozco, Patricia Hafley and Laurie Orozco. She has 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
She was a friend and safe haven to countless young people growing up in her community. She would watch with concern for the young ones at the Boys Club across the street from her Tacoma home. She was there for them too; Talking, cooking, being their friend or temporary mom, always telling them what to do and how they'd better listen. She had a busy, noisy home for most of her life and loved it that way.
As her children and grand children grew up, she decided to buy her final home, a farm. She began to build her dreams, with very little help: Chicken coops, goat barn, pump house, gazebo, porches, elecrified fencing, and high tunnel vegetable gardens. She would harvest, can and cook wonderful dinners for our holidays. Her head strong determination built an amazing farm with 5 acres that she tended to mostly herself. Her fierce independence will inspire all who knew her forever.
She will be missed and never forgotten. It's going to be a beautiful day, momma.
