Obituary of Amanda Lynn Zettelmier

Amanda L. Wilford Zettelmier passed away on July 8, 2018 with her family by her side. Amanda was born January 17, 1979 in Shelton, WA to Dickie & Peggy (Riker) Wilford. Amanda grew up in Shelton for the last 39 years. When Amanda attended Shelton High School, she enjoyed singing and was a member of the school choir. In 1997, she traveled with the 42-member choir to the University of Washington Invitational Choral Festival in Seattle, Washington. During her senior year, Amanda attended the New Market Skills Center in Tumwater, Washington, and completed a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course. It was Amanda’s ultimate dream to become a nurse, and two weeks after she graduated high school in 1998, she got her first job as a CNA at Fir Lane Nursing Home. She went on to complete a Medical Assistant course with nearly a 4.0 grade. Soon, after she started working at Mason General Hospital as a CNA. In 2002, Amanda became pregnant, and since she was a Type 1, insulin dependent diabetic since the age of 8 years old, she was instructed by her doctors not to work while pregnant. Because of her diabetes, she was unable to carry the baby to full term as it was causing her to have serious health issues with her kidneys, eyes, and blood pressure. Her daughter was successfully born six weeks premature. Soon after that, Amanda became disabled and could not work. It became her “job” to take care of her health and raise a beautiful baby girl. Amanda enjoyed taking care of cats and kittens, and her fish, but she loved all kinds of animals, including her love of dolphins. She played little league softball for one year, but decided that was not her cup of tea. She also enjoyed swimming. Amanda was a very caring person and family was her #1 priority. She loved ALL her family and friends with ALL her heart, but most especially adored her 15 year old daughter, Alivia. In June 2018, Amanda became ill due to kidney failure which caused her to have many other health issues. She developed a very serious blood infection. Her doctors did everything they could to help her fight off the infection, but her Kidneys and lungs were not strong enough to help her win this battle. On July 8, 2018, in Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, Washington, after nearly 31 years living with diabetes, Amanda left this world to join her daddy in heaven, whom she just lost less than one year ago. She is survived by her mother Peggy Wilford, of Shelton, WA, her daughter Alivia Zettelmier of Shelton, WA, her brother Andrew Wilford, sister in law Krystal Wilford of Shelton, WA, along with a niece, nephew and her boyfriend, Jay Churchill of South Bend, WA. Service will be held at Freedom Baptist Church (formally Hope Chapel) on Saturday July 21, 2018 at 2:30 with a Graveside Inurnment at Shelton Memorial Park following the service.
