Charlotte Faulkner

Obituary of Charlotte Faulkner

Charlotte J. Faulkner It is with great sadness that the family of Charlotte J. Faulkner announces her passing on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at Mason General Hospital. She had recently celebrated her 80th birthday. Char was a lifetime Shelton resident and beloved school district employee at the time of her passing Char was born March 6, 1936 to Charles and Doris (Adams) Miller in Shelton, Washington. She was Skokomish Indian and was raised within that community. Char graduated from Irene S. Reed High School in 1957. Charlotte married Steve Faulkner on May 30, 1980 in Shelton. He preceded her in death in 2004. Char’s previous marriage to Jim Tobin ended in divorce. Mrs. Faulkner’s life work was education. She taught Head Start for many years. Later she worked in the Olympia School District Indian Education program. For over 40 years, Char has worked in the Shelton School District as a para-educator. She worked at Shelton High School (foods, nutrition and sewing) for 35 years. Char loved to support the “kids” in her life. She enjoyed watching her own children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and students she taught participate in activities. She would think nothing of traveling hours to watch them play a sport. She would come to music performances, plays, award ceremonies, etc. Whatever they were doing; if she was invited, she would attend. Charlotte especially loved her family. And if you were loved by Char, you were family. Char is survived by four children, Jim Tobin Jr. of Shelton; Julie Mix (Ralph) of Puyallup; Jeff Faulkner of Bonney Lake and Lana Faulkner of Kennewick; daughter Michelle Faulkner preceded her in death. She is also survived by her siblings; Guy Miller of Skokomish, Mary Dawson of Shelton, Alice Pulsifer of Skokomish, Robert Miller of Shelton and Pam Veliz of Shelton; five grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and their children. A small graveside service was held at Shelton Memorial Cemetery on April 8, 2020. Due to social distancing the family will schedule a public celebration of life memorial service at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
