Obituary of Teresa Griffey

Teresa Ann Griffey, walked with her lord Jesus Christ, on June 27th, 2020, from her home in Belfair, Washington. She fought hard in her last days to be with those she loved as she battled pancreatic cancer. Teresa was born on August 5th, 1971 in Bremerton, Washington to Robert Griffey & Kim (Medeiros) Kennedy-Gossett. Teresa was raised in the Belfair area with a big mixed family. Her parents divorced young, but she enjoyed being a big sister first to Matthew Kennedy and later to Michelle (Griffey) Sellers & Ryan Griffey. She grew up spending a lot of time on the saltwater and it continued to be her favorite place until the end. Teresa graduated from North Mason High School, making lifelong friends there she spent time with even in her last days. Teresa was a voracious reader and passionate about Native American history and culture. All that knew Teresa will remember her best for her self-described biggest joy and blessing, her daughter Lily. Teresa married only once, Richard Schultz, who passed many years ago. She remained a single parent always willing to attend any event celebrating her daughter or to get her daughter to her favorite concert, to which there were many. If you were loved and cherished by Teresa, you were lucky enough. She leaves this world better than when she entered it and she will be dearly missed. We would be remiss without mentioning her incredible community of friends who have held her and her family up during the last month, her church (Belfair community Church) who prayed and prayed and showed up day after day in the last few months. To Providence Hospice, we are forever grateful for your immense care and consideration of her. Teresa is preceded in death by her mother, Kim Kennedy-Gossett of Grapeview and grandparents Ray & Pat Medeiros of Belfair, husband Richard Schultz of Seaside, Oregon and many loved ones. Teresa is leaving behind her daughter, Lily of Belfair, parents Bob & Diana Griffey of Belfair, stepfather Rick Calvin of Grapeview, brother Matt (Merrilee) Kennedy of Tacoma, sister Michelle (Jeff) Sellers of Gig Harbor, brother Ryan (Katie) Griffey of Belfair, grandparents Harvey & Dorothy Griffey of Allyn, niece Rachel Kennedy of Tacoma, nephew David (Michelle) Larson of Tacoma and a whole lot more family & friends too many to list. To her pastors, both Jamie & Jody, we cannot express in words our gratitude for your prayers and blessing her and all of us with your awesomeness & grace! From M, M, T, C, T, J and R - WE GOT THIS. Due to the COVID -19 Pandemic, services were limited and a memorial will be held at a later date.
