Obituary of Donald K. Jacobson

Donald Keith Jacobson, Sr. or "Jake", 76, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at his home in Union, WA. Don died after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. His wife Gwen and grand"son" Kaleb were with him when he passed. He was born May 5, 1944 in Union, Utah, to Daniel and Lucile Hardman Jacobson. Raised in Draper and Sandy, Utah, he graduated from Jordan High School in 1962. Don was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Throughout his life he worked as a mechanic, a truck driver, EMT and owned a golf cart business with his wife before retiring. He enjoyed football, bowling, pool, softball, playing cards with family and friends, golf, and enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid hunter. Don married Paula Jenkins in the Salt Lake City, UT temple in 1963. They had four children together. He then married LaRayne (Rasmussen) Kerbs in Bicknell, UT in 1972, and together they raised her three children and their one son. Later, Don married Gwen McCann Garr in Farson, WY in 1987. A year later they moved to Don's beloved state of Washington. After retiring, they adopted their grand"son", Kaleb. Don is survived by his wife, Gwen, grandson Kaleb, two sisters, Shirley (Ralph) Mortensen, Sandy, UT and Gladys (Roy) Anderson, Kansas. 5 children, Karie (Danny) Collins of Green River, WY, Darin (Carlene) Jacobson, Draper, UT, Trent (Deanna) Jacobson, Saratoga Springs, UT, Allen (Jennifer) Jacobson, Bountiful, UT and Donald (Stacey) Jacobson, Rock Springs, WY., and 5 step children: Jill (Clay) Devine, Rock Springs, WY, Charolette (William) Plew, West Valley City, UT, Willy Kerbs, Rock Springs, WY, Gene (Annette) Morrow, Antelope, CA, and Lori Younglove, WA., 29 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 siblings, David, Daniel, and Leora (Jacobson) Melton. A memorial service has been planned for 10:00am on Saturday August 8, 2020 at the Draper City Historic Park, 12625 S. 900 E. Draper City, UT.
