Obituary of Alta Louise McCord

Alta McCord, a life-long resident of Shelton, WA passed away unexpectedly from health complications on September 28, 2021. Alta is survived by her 8 children Michael Wayne, Wayne “Hoopie” Kempton, Terina Louise, Taunya Mae, James Martin Reese, Tersa Amy Jean, Mick Charles Wallace, and Tausha Rae-Lynn as well as dozens of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Alta was born in Shelton on October 7, 1946 to Ida and Wayne Dory. She happily lived her life in Mason County. At the age of 18, She married the love of her life, Michael Reese McCord in 1965. She became a stay home mother and prided herself in caring for her 8 children. She loved berry picking, pie baking and could can a mean batch of pickles. In her free time, she enjoyed outdoor activities especially camping and fishing. A funeral service is being scheduled for the end of October at Shelton Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will update others as the plans are finalized.
