Obituary of Raymond Goodale

Raymond Lawrence Goodale, 86, of Bremerton Washington, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2021. He was born May 16, 1935, To Ralph and Winifred Goodale in Puyallup, Washington. He was one of three children, older brother Robert and younger sister Beatrice. Ray graduated from Puyallup High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Eastern Washington University. Ray met the love of his life, Irene Schoel in Tacoma, Washington and they were married in 1959. Ray and Irene had three children, Cheryl (Barnett), Gregory (Sandra) and Ronald (Lori). He lived for more than 50 years in Bremerton where he owned and managed several tire stores and served on many different boards for local non-profits. Ray spent much of his free time working and supporting Summit Avenue Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and sang in the choir. Ray loved all people and was able to start up conversations with anyone and make that person feel important. He was an extremely hard worker and always led by example. He was always there for others, whether doing yard work, helping someone move or taking care of children while their parents needed support. Ray was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching football and baseball, especially with other people. He participated in a bowling league with friends for many years. Ray had several groups he would meet with weekly for breakfast and great company. Ray’s kind, compassionate and hardworking nature will be sorely missed by his family and the community. He had the warmest smile and a one of a kind sense of humor. Most of all Ray loved his seven grandchildren with whom he spent countless hours attending their sporting events, recitals, concerts and taking them on camping trips. Ray loved nothing more than to pack up his trailer for a camping trip with family. A celebration of life will be held on January 22nd at Summit Avenue Presbyterian Church. Donations can be made in Ray’s name to Summit Avenue Presbyterian Church. Online condolences can be made atwww.mccombwagner.com
