Born on February 29th a leap year baby, Margaret Parmelee Thomas went to be with Jesus on Monday Jan. 19th. Beloved mother of two; Sybel Diane Scott de Pech and Andrew Thomas Scott, Margaret had a zest for life and great faith in God. She was born to Everett and Beulah Parmelee in Centralia and had three wonderful sisters: Lela (Dee), Patricia, and Judith. She was proceeded in death by her father, mother, her sister, Pat and her husband, Bruce. She graduated from Centralia H.S. in 1954 and earned a Bachelor’s of Education from Central Washington University.
Married to Roger Scott in 1959, she taught grade school in the late 60’s and part of the 70’s. Later on Margaret encouraged her son Andy to start a Bible study group in Junior High –a bold move- several of his friends were active and called themselves the “Sons of Thunder”. Later Margaret would take that group of boys to hear Billy Graham at the Kingdome in 1976. Margaret and Roger hosted many a missionary family in their home and hospitality was definitely one of her gifts.
After her first marriage ended she moved to California to live with Sybel and while there she met and married Bruce Thomas. Margaret was passionate about books, quilting, art and her faith. She loved to entertain guest at their home and was a gracious hostess making cakes, cookies and pies, and even though a hot fudge sundae was her favorite dessert, there was always a two liter bottle of coca cola for special occasions.
After Bruce’s passing and her subsequent stroke her family helped her move back to Washington State where her nephew David, his family and her son, Andy assisted her as her health declined up until the day she left this earth for her heavenly home.
