Obituary of Sharon Lorene Johnson
Sharon Johnson of Tumwater passed away on Monday, February 24, 2014 from complications related to breast cancer. She was born in Tillamook, Oregon in 1946 and moved to Washington as a small child. She grew up in Amboy, Washington and graduated from Battle Ground High School in 1964. She graduated from Central Washington University with a degree in Communications in 1986. She worked as a photojournalist for the Leavenworth Echo and 14 years for hospital publications in the Portland area. She met her husband, Myron, in 1992, and they married in May, 1997 on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. They lived together in Vancouver, Washington before relocating to Boise, Idaho, where she wrote and photographed for Idaho Magazine about special events and places. She moved to the Olympia area in 2005 with her husband, who worked for the Washington State Parks Department until 2009. She spent many hours attending to her garden and took joy in seeing the seasons change. She held a passion for nature photography and experiencing quiet landscapes.
She is survived by her husband, Myron Johnson; three sons: Kevin Chase and wife Michelle, of Sequim; Christopher Chase and partner Laura, of Seattle; and Greg Chase and wife Mandy, of Portland; grandsons, Cameron, Riley and Crispin; sisters, Sandra Carterby and her husband Jim of Battle Ground; Arlene Redifer of Orofino, Idaho; and brother , Raymond Waymire of Vale, Oregon. A private family service will be held in the future.
